The context — why this test

The Instagram account @mogacode.ma had existed for two years but had never been the subject of a systematic content strategy. It had 253 followers, of which probably 401 were Patrick's direct contacts. The engagement rate was around 1.81%, below the industry average.

The goal: to test Social Master on our own account before offering it to our clients. If it works for us under real-world Moroccan market conditions, it can work for them.

Test rules: zero purchased followers, zero bots, zero engagement pods, zero paid advertising. Only organic content published via Social Master.

The strategy — 3 types of content

Educational carousels (60% of the volume) Format #1

7 to 10 slides explaining a concrete concept: "How Google evaluates your site," "5 WordPress mistakes that are causing you to lose customers," "Website pricing explained in 8 slides." Long format, high save rate, excellent organic reach. The educational carousels accounted for 731,300 new followers.

Daily stories (30% of the volume) retention format

Behind the scenes of agency work, Q&A sessions, and surveys on client issues. Stories don't bring in direct followers but maintain engagement from existing subscribers, which signals positively to the algorithm for feed content.

Demonstration reels (10% of volume) Viral format

Short demonstrations of results: "Before/after of a WordPress site", "Our SEO dashboard in 45 seconds", "How to manage 21 sites at the same time". Only one reel has exceeded 8,000 views on this account with 253 subscribers — the power of the short video format remains uneven.

The best times for the Moroccan audience

Analysis of engagement data over 20 days confirms patterns specific to the Moroccan market:

The 8:30-10:00 PM time slot is clearly dominant. This is the post-dinner, pre-sleep period when the Moroccan audience is most available to consume long-form content (carousels). Morning posts (7:00-8:30 AM) also perform well above average: professionals check their feeds at the start of the day.

The real gain isn't the 896 new followers. It's the engagement rate, which jumped from 1.81% to 4.31%. Subscribers who actively interact are 10 times more valuable than a large, passive audience.

What didn't work

Transparency is essential. Two types of content underperformed:

  • The "institutional" posts" — "MogaCode is proud of…" or "We have completed project X" do not generate any organic engagement. The audience does care.
  • Motivational quotes — saturated format, almost zero reach, zero differentiation.
